QSC k12 Keyboard Question

I posted this at the keyboard mag forums too, so you may have seen something similar to this over there.

Anyway, I'm running an Electro 3 through a QSC K12 as my keyboard amp.

My issue is, my B3 low end sounds are really loud compared to the higher notes. I mean the screaming high notes seem to be really soft in volume compared to notes in the middle and bottom of the keyboard unless I really crank the last knob of the EQ on the Nord really high.

Anyone else running this? I have tried various switch settings on the back of the Q12, but tend to go with LF (norm or extended sub) and HF (Flat).

BTW, are the Gain knobs the same thing as volume?

Nord leslie sims always sounded muffled to me to begin with. The K12 has gigantic bass, so definitely play with some of the bass rolloff switches to balance it out. Also, getting the cab up off the floor will reduce the bass response.

Switching to a Q10, or adding an external graphic EQ might help if all else fails.

Im actually using a Vent. Shoulda said that to start. Sorry. I'll try putting it up on something too. I didn't realize that about having it on the floor.

I don't really want to buy anything. I guess using the Nord EQ will have to do. I should also mention its going into a XENYX 802 mixer before the K12.

Try turning on the Ext Sub switch. That should roll off a lot of the frequencies that can muddy up the sound. This is recommended by QSC for the K12 or K10 when used as a floor monitor. you can also engage the Vocal Boost as well, although that might be too bright.

I have the K10 and a Stage 2 and run it with Ext Sub engaged, sounds great-

I am really shocked! The Nord usually has lack of bass issues. 3 fixes, put the speaker on a pole or stand, depending on if you are sitting or standing. #2 mess with the EQ and leslie balances thus add more mid and high as well. Remember you have 3 maybe 4 EQ's to consider. #3 make sure the speaker is set to normal and not extended bass. I would not activate the sub function for you will lose some of your low end full range.

If all else fails even trade for a K10.

mate_stubb, I'm thinking of getting the Neo Ventilator; have you had any second thoughts about them after having used it for awhile now? I've joined a classic rock band that plays a lot of Deep Purple & some Steppenwolf, etc.. I've been using a Real Tube II tube preamp, but am not happy with its sound.

Sorry to be a little OT, but it sounds liker the OP's problem has been taken care of.
