Any prog rock players out there want to collaborate on original?

Hi, my name is Mike. I'm a lyricist from NJ and in my thirties. I have been writing many years and feel ready to put some lyrics out there, mainly as a first exercise in collaborating, but I'm also open to the possibility of adding some strong lyrical content to an existing original project gearing up for release.

Ideally, the lyrics I have in mind would replace any "filler material" an artist isn't sure of and would rather include something stronger in it's place.

Any royalties could be split 50/50 between myself and the contributing musicians. Again, the above scenario would be ideal, but a "practice" collaboration with "no strings" would be fine too.

I like to think working on just lyrics and not the music gives me the chance to really focus all my attention on producing a memorable and strong lyric that I hope musician's would be eager to stamp their musical ideas on and so a Fish/ Marillion type of "lyricist-in-the-field" collaboration would suit me best.

I would prefer the musician(s) create music to fit the lyrics I submit since they are usually already finished and I write without musical accompanyment (though I always have a melody, guitar parts in my head). My material is highly structuced, however, and once a musician has figured out one verse part and the chorus they should have the whole song... adding slight alterations, as they see fit, and as they tackle the other sections.

Bands I like include Rush, Mars Volta, Live, Coheed & Cambria, Dream Theater, Fates Warning, Collective Soul, etc .

I know Scheming Demon and a few others on HC are Rush fans and a serious collaboration with artists influenced by that band I think would produce the best results.

If this sounds interesting to anyone let me know (via this thread) and I'll post a lyric for you to check out. Thanks for looking. Anything I missed, just ask.

Mike

Well, I figured that went without saying but perhaps I should have said it. Of course, Genesis...Yes...ELP....The Who...Led Zep...Boston...Supertramp...

Jethro Tull....Styx...later The Police...even bands like Heart......Foreigner....Bad Co....

I was raised on all of those bands.

Are you a musician? If you want to collaborate on a song - if only to add to your resume - let me know.
