Members grace_slick
Uh, well...yeah. At first I wasn't so sure about this, but now I quite like it although it needs a a lot of work still. I think for some reason I seem to be fixated on vegetables. 2 of my songs are Land of the Bearded Tomatoes and now this, Onion Foot. Oh well. This one I've had in my head for years and recorded the vocal bits at the end as the first thing I ever did when we got our studio equipment set up, just cause I didn't know where to start in terms of writing real songs or singing properly and stuff. Had never done it before. The bridge bits are NOT decided. I just recorded them here to have something there and no gaps. I also cut off the end instrumentals a bit too early, annoyingly. When it's finished, I intend to have it keep going a bit longer and fade out. www.soundclick.com/auntacid Onion Foot (The Saga of Frank) Wake up on the floor Taste of bitter bite Hair has turned to gold What happened here last night Falling to the door Gotta get outside Stumbling round the town Who there do you know People stop and stare Don
Members reubenpaul
I would put beeps in to show they are answerphone messages, as I don't think this is obvious until she says 'call me back'. A nice idea though. It reminded me of Laura Marling without sounding like Laura Marling. I would add some additional vocals in the chorus (Onions wrapped around your shoes...) Members Chicken Monkey
I think you've hit what you're going for. It's hard to judge non-commercial work, but it sounds nice. On a non-songwriting point, I'd run a noise reducer over this track to get rid of the hiss--it's especially problematic at the beginning.
Members grace_slick
Thank you! Oh god yes, I am all too painfully aware of the constant hiss / background noise. It
Members tbry
This is real good...you have a niche style...thats good. Harmonies and call and response backing vocals would fill in the sonic quality greatly. Its hard to do...that is sing your own harmonies but you sound like you could do it...some real nice qualities in your vocal and delivery...fill in around it with more of that. Members rockinrobby
You're a singer Grace... I would like to work with you. But I'd have to be there with you. I liked onion foot. And onions are in fact, "my favorite" vegies? Those and garlic. Who's playing the guitar? LOL@ the mother!!
Members grace_slick
Yay, you liked the mother?? I am SO lame, but when I was recording those clips, I was alone in the house and just laughing at my own weirdo self the whole time! I love doing that old woman voice. It's so much fun. Those clips have been sitting there "in the vault" for about 3 years, and only now have been un-earthed!! lol Thanks for the comment re the singing. I think weirdly I don't sing to the best of my potential ability on my own songs as much as I sometimes do on others' songs (like karaoke versions of songs I like and stuff), but oh well. Maybe that'll improve over time like everything else does, eh? Oh, and the guitar. *cough* Well...yeah. *mumble*

Members LeonardScaper
I had to listen to this one........I can only do computer speakers right now. Grace, you really are amazing. You have this silky smooth, beautiful voice and you put it to work on some of the most quirkily intelligent stuff I have ever heard. It's like a cross between Frank Zappa and Renaissance. Just keep doing it. You need to find a collaboration that lets you be the artistic motor......and I don't mean Robby. Oh...forgot to mention......love the phone thing. Put an EQ plug up and strip out the lows and highs with a filter and bump up the 3K range. Add a bunch of reverb.
Members grace_slick
Oh wow, THANK YOU!!!! Quirkily intelligent?? lol I agree it's defintiely quirky but intelligent? Eep! Thanks for the compliment!! Yes, I need someone to fix up my technical issues. I just don't have the interest or inclination for that side of things, sadly.
