You have come up with the easy bit - and it's a good bit.

If you're not accustomed to writing songs, then I recommend that you don't fix this in stone. You need to be flexible about what you do with your backing track.

Always think the track to be preliminary, and let the lyric evolve.

For example, in the 1st half, you have 8 measures of what might be a verse and 4 measures of what might be a chorus. This repeats a few times.

When you write the lyrics, you may find that you only want 6 measures for the verse.

The 16 measure finale is probably appropriate, but you may wish to trim the preceding 16 measures if they don't evolve satisfactorily with the lyric.

Anyway - give it your best shot, and post any preliminary lyrics here, because you will get some input to help you on your way.

Good luck.

There was a band in the 60's (I was just a babe...) called the Ventures. At least the first part of this song there are echos of them. And I like it.

There are a number of good bits in this song. When the heavy guitars come in after the first stanza (the "Ventures" part) what I heard was some terrific backing instrumental music for an action sequence of a movie.

Take this and start working up a melody from the emotion you felt when creating the instrumental. And heed what oldgit said - be ready to have the song morph itself into perhaps something not even imagined when you start adding verses, chorus, bridge etc.

Looking forward to hearing it!

Thanks for sharing!

I'm not sure which genre this fits in, but it sounds like a hard rock instrumental with the crashing guitar on the chorus. It has a melodic arrangement, but when the guitar harmonics come in at the 2:30 mark, it becomes dissonant to my ears. Plus, the ending is awkward. This song begs for vocals, and I'm hoping that you can come up with something that will fit like a glove.
