Hello all,

I want to install two 1 meg pots in my guitar in order to give my pups more output. I would need long-shaft pots, however, and I can't find them on any of the standard web sites (allparts.com, guitarpartsresource.com, etc).

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks! :thu:

This is straight from Gibson's FAQ list on their official website. I have thought about doing the same thing for my super-hot 500T and 490R Gibson pickups, which apparently need extra impedance at both the pot level AND right after the guitar before anything else (overdrive, effects, amp, etc).

Most BOSS pedals are 1MegaOhm, and the highest impedance I have seen is the Countryman DI box, which can be routed into a microphone pre-amp AND your amplifier at the same time. If you aren't going to record at all, I would imagine that it can still be used without the XLR out.

I did a lot of homework on the DI box side, and the Countryman was highly rated as an "industry standard" for DI boxes. Coincidentally, they're not obscenely expensive; they're in the middle range in price--not cheap crap, but not Radials that have lower impedance values anyway.

Here's the info from the website:

The actual link from which the above was derived is: http://www.gibson.com/Service/FAQ/#

Last time I checked, stewmac.com had 1 MOhm pots, but I don't know if they're long shaft.

I just check stewmac. Their 1MOhm pots are not long throw. Let me know if you find some from the links. I have a Gibson SG Voodoo, but I don't know if I need short or long yet. I am saving this project for later after I watch their DVD on how to do it.
