Members Sighs McGraff
Hi folks, I have a Seymour Duncan MusicMan pickup (not the 3 coil version) that I would like to wire into a toggle switch for series/split/parallel options. If I'm reading this schematic correctly... http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/schematics.php?schematic=series_split_parallel ...the south (bridge) coil will be knocked out in split mode. However, I'd like to knock out the north (neck) coil in split mode. To achieve this, is it a simple matter of swapping where the 2 black wires go, and swapping where the 2 white wires go? Thanks! PS....I realize in the SD MM PUP the hots are black and red, and the remaining wires are green and white.
Members Deaf Eddie
If you look at this drawing from S-D: ... and use an on/on/on toggle instead of the p/p they show, you will get the series/shunt/parallel coil options. Wired this way, the shunt-option leaves the screw coil active, shunts the slug coil. If you are getting the "wrong" coil for you in the shunt option, you will need to swap all four leads: black for green, and red for white. That should give you the "right" coil.
