HH Jaguar Build?

I know I have posted this in the Electric Guitar section, but I just now found the DIY section. I guess this is where it should have gone to start with, sorry.

Long time Nirvana/Grunge fan and love the sound of the HH Jag's. I could always throw a double pickup in the bottom slot at a later time.

I have never built a guitar before, but I really want this type of guitar and sound. It would be a 62-65 style Jag, using a pre cut/routed jag body (warmouth?).

I would probably use some sort of DiMarzio humbucker/zebra pickup combo. Everything would be right handed, but a Left handed "thin" style neck for the reverse headstock effect.

I am just curious, if I was to purchase the parts and build/have someone build it, roughly how much do you think it would cost?

OR: Would it be better to just buy a new Fender Jaguar HH for $600 and mod it to how I wanted?

I "have" the bucks, but I'm also getting ready to build a new computer for about $800.00. So I could just wait it out and get something $1,200. again, but...lol Money burns a hole in my pocket very easy. I want something I can jam with and just...idk, aneurysm is all I can say.

I'm actually building a Jazzmaster right now with sort of a nirvana influence. I'm going with the Jazz because I have really big hands and it's more comfortable for me to play the larger scale guitars.

Anyway, I'll be going with a PAF in the neck and either a Seymore Duncan JB or a Dimarzio Super Dist in the bridge. I'm planning on doing the pots on the upper horn to split the humbuckers to single coils. I'd like to use an Adjusto-matic off of a Jaugar HH insteat of the standard bridge. I don't want to use a tune-o-matic because they're set up for 12 inch radius necks where the fender bridge is set up for 7.25 inch fender necks.

Anyway, it's been my experience that in the long run, it's always cheaper to buy the guitar and then go from there when funds are avaliable. But, to me it's more fun to build from scratch. No compromises. Keep us updated with the progress.

I bought a guitar from guitar center and did the payment thing. They're owned by the same company. But anyway, I did the 12 months same as cash and just devided the value of the guitar by 12 and had it payed off within the year. Pretty good deal actually.
