Members dotkom11
Where can I find a 1-1/2" thick pine or poplar blank? I searched online, but I can't find anyone offering that thickness. The body dimension fits in a 14" X 20" though, of course, the core is mostly hollow. I refuse to pay Luthier companies $70 for a nice wood blank I'm going to destroy and cover with masonite and vinyl. If you can direct me to an online supplier, that would be great! Members Schecter5
Stew mac doesn't have it, it doesn't exist. Did you try a lumber yard? You can probably get something a little over 1 1/2 and plane it down. Whatever you get you will probably have to plane anyways to get it nice and flat. .... or cut your own tree? Members dotkom11
Good points. I got a 2" x 8" piece of pine. I'm going to joining it, plane it, creating a blank and then hollowing it out ala Dano-guitar. After that one is complete, I might try a bona-fide four-piece core. I'll post photos of my finished product. Right now it'll have a G&L neck with a '57 Humbucker in the bridge.
