monitor placement

Hello Everyone,

I finally went for the krk rokit 5's and got them. Now, I am trying to read a bit on monitor placement and the only information they give me is to form (with nearfield monitors) a triangle of 3 equal side length (basically the distance between each monitor has to be equal to the distance between each monitor and the listener) but one question I was wondering (since I am outside of the house): does changing the position of the monitors vertically will make a lot of difference or not? Such as if I put them near ear level or should I place them higher?

Thank you

how about the angle they are facing and whether you have them upright or laying on their side?

I have mine sitting upright with the woofer towards the bottom and they are angled in slightly so each speaker points directly to my head. I've always believed this to be correct.

However, sometimes you see people having them lay on their sides, and also some people have them facing straight out. I realize there is no one right way to do anything, but what exactly is the standard?

Also, what if the design of the monitor is different than usual? For instance the ADAM S3A's (which I'd love to have, phil you have these don't you?) have two woofers, one on each side. Would this, or other designs, prompt a different set-up?

I'm fine with how mine are set up, but I figured I'd bring this point up as well.
