Members electrafixtion
HiI have three e-mu sound cards. This is the first one that has given me any trouble. I only mention this because I am fairly familiar with the cards and their software. My experiences have been very positive up until now. I just put together a system. The base unit is a Dell Studio 540. Q8200/6 gigs ram/couple of SATA HD. One WD 10K raptor I installed in the system, along with a pci-e ethernet wireless card. I first loaded XP as the computer comes with Vista. This is going to become a pretty huge problem for many users soon. Too many of the onboard devices don't have XP drivers available so I turned 'em off in the F2 setup. What happens is that when everything is running I get frequent clicks/pops anytime the soundcard is active. No other audio program need be launched. This sound is similar to the old non TI firewire chipset conflicts. I believe, although I am not certain and I haven't heard back from E-MU yet, that I got a bad card. The reason is that when switching from low/high inputs there is a LOUD click/pop on the inputs. You can also hear noise if the inputs are switched to the higher +4 db mode and the channel volume in the mixer is turned up. I don't believe this should happen when there is nothing plugged into them. I did a complete reinstall with vista and it did the same thing. Any other insight before I send this one back to zzounds and have them send me another?
