I'm writing a JD tribute song and I need to get roughly that style of vocal into the song for the right effect. Only issue is that I'm female. Which puts a spanner in the works somewhat. I can't sound that much like a man. I CAN sing that JD song, but I sound like a mildly odd woman trying to sound like a man. lol Sooo unless that's the sound you're looking for, I can't help ya I'm afraid! lol I'd say there are 3 options... 1. Sing it as best you can as a copy of the original2. Sing it uniquely up an octave or transpose it and do it in your own female voice3.
