which do you guys prefer?

i've had my eye on the pearl eliminator for a while now and it looks like it has more features than any dw series pedal. but does anyone have any real experience with these they'd like to share to help me make my decision?

I've only played on a used double eliminator, but I'd still definately take that over any DW pedal (including the 9000). All of the DW stuff is too thick and sluggish for my liking. The slave on the pearl can easily get worn down without proper care, as was the case on the one I played. I use an eliminator single for anything fast, and I love it.

i used to have the eliminators when i first got my drum set cuz i had to wait to order the dw 9000's. It took me a while to get used to the eliminators and i switched the cams and stuff, theyre good pedals but if u want the best go with Dw for sure, they are expensive but they are the best. Everyone that plays on my drumset raves about the pedals being soo smooth and easy to use..i love em':p

Betw DW & Pearl, I"d go with the Pearl Power Shifter Eliminator. Its a sweet pedal, and the cams are interchangeable. Its smooth, and had a great feel to it. I like the DW as well, but did not care for the heel plate (some people love it).

Before you decide, i would check out the Tama Iron Cobra Power Glide. This was my final decision, after trying all the major pedals on the market. You can adjust EVERY possibe item and make it fit YOUR needs. The powerglide cam also gives you that extra punch when playing allowing for better attack & volume. And you can beat the build in drum key. Its just so handy! :D

They're both good pedals...really can't go wrong either way. I've got an Iron Cobra and love it. I've also checked out the new Yamaha pedals and they're top notch as well. It really comes down to personal preference.

One thing I'd like to add, however, is don't buy any pedal just because it has more adjustment options (i.e. interchangeable cams like Pearl.) I know this sounds backwards, but once I got my iron cobra dialed in to where I like it, I've never touched it since. I imagine the same would hold true with any other pedal. While the interchangeable cams are a cool idea, my guess is that 99% of the people who own them eventually settle on one set up, and the other cams sit around collecting dust!

Anyway, having tons of adjusments is very handy early on when you first get the pedal, but the importance of those adjusments becomes less important over time.

Choosing between the Pearl and the DW (or the Tama, Yamaha, Axis, or any other hi-end pedal) to me is kind of like trying to choose between a BMW, a Lexus, or a Mercedes....there really isn't a bad option in the bunch.

I recently went to a drum store and tried an IC power glide and flexi glide, a DW 5002 and a DW 9000. They were all nice but overall I preferred the IC, it just "felt better" to me.

Go and try them all, before I tried them I was pretty much set on the DW 5002 but I just didn't like the feel of it compared to the IC.

I think that Old Steve has the right idea on this one, there's really not a bad one in there once you get to this price range. There's just gonna be the "right one" for YOU.

i sat down one day and tried out just about every pedal i could find, but by the end i stuck by the pear eliminator

mainly because the dw's felt heavy

the cobra's were nice, but didn't fit me quite as well

and the other brands weren't really that great

pedals are kinda like shoe preference
