Members rambler1959
great mics, very similar to sm57's (some would even say they sound better) plus they are easier to get into some places seeing as how they are flat.

Members tlester
Do YOU like the sound of the mic's? Are they accomplishing what you set out to do? If so, then they are AWESOME mics. If they aren't sounding good to YOU, then they are crap. Mic's aren't neccessarily good or bad. They either they get the sound that you want or they don't. An SM57, in gerneral is a crappy mic. However... happens to be a perfect snare mic and rock guitar mic. It also is very durable, so it makes a great hammer and door jam while one the road. Do you need a vintage U47 or the like for every application... no. I recoreded Joey Ramone with a RE20 and it sounded great. Definately NOT even considered a vocal mic, much less a good one! Use what sounds right and don't worry about the name or model. The only other trick to that statement is knowing what actually sound right That takes experience and ear training. I hope that helps... -Tom PS... I've used those mics on several things on past projects... not bad mics on the right things!
