Members Bluedoggy
Are there any decent little kits for kids? He's 5 and wants some drums.
Members Snake
If you want a real kit for your son, some manufacturers make small scale kits like Tama Stagestar or Mapex Voyager Jr.. If you're just looking for a cheap, temporary kit for him to bang on to see if he likes drumming, you can get crap kits at Walmart for $150 or so. Members Riffle
Yeah.... Walmart is the way to go. He won't know the difference, and they will serve him well enough for years to come... only thing is, I haven't seen those kits, so they may be full sized rather than young'un size. Ludwig also has a kit called Ludwig Jr. but, I would start him on a no-name setup first. Is Dad a drummer too??

Members Kyrrinstoch
See if you can get your hands on a small little 'bop' kit. Something with like a 10, 12, 14" toms, a 16 or 18" bass drum (converted floor tom works fine for this) and somthing like a 12" diameter piccolo/soprano snare. That should be about the right size for a kid his age, but still be a "real" brand name and sound good to keep him happy for at least a few years. See what you can find in the used shops and maybe on ebay for stuff like this. I can't tell you how often I find "orphaned" drums that could easily be collected into a kit like this and for not much more than you'd drop on a Wal-Mart kit. Besides, it would also make a great little jazz or easily portable kit for when he's older.
