Mapex Pro M (ignorant post)

My wife decided to buy me a drum set for Christmas. I was REALLY concerned when I started opening the boxes up because, I really wanted to test out sets, and make a well-informed decision. She did seek help from her father who is an amateur drummer, but also is a "researcher" when is comes time to spend money. Since there is no need for me to spend 6 months in drum shops, I was wondering what anyones opinion is on the Mapex Pro M series set. The set came with 5 Zildjians (cr, rd, spl, hht) and all of the hardware (minus a splash stand) for like $700 (I think).

I'll take all comments (good/bad/indifferent)... Let me know if you need more details.

Overall, I like the sound.

Got a good divorce lawyer?

Just kidding. What line (ZBT, A, A Custom, K...) of Zildjians came with it?

I've only heard good things about Mapex drums. Congrats!

The cymbals are ZBT series. Apparently, Zildjian has a "set" of cymbals that they sell. Well, those are the ones that I got.

I think that the set was about $500-ish and the cymbal set was about $170-ish.

I'm just jogging my memory from January.

My new Pro-M kit arrived yesterday and I have to say it is even better than I expected,I chose the transparent gloss natural finish and this is well applied and buffed ,general build quality seem to be excellent and the hardware with the kit is also very good.

All in all going on looks, build quality and sound(with the basic factory supplied Remo heads) I would expect this kit to be more costly than it is.
