Members rockbeat
Does any company other than Aquarian make spring holders for cymbals. I was just curious to see if anyone knew of anything similar that didn't cost $10 a piece (plus shipping in my case). I've been looking around and so far I can't find anything. Members EcHoplex
years ago, SilverFox used to make these flexible rubber pieces that retro-fit over the cymbal thread. Instead of using springs like the Aquarians the rubber flexed while the cymbal was played. They were very cool and they actually worked! Forgot the name of them. Anyway, they we're about the same size as a rubber foot on a bass drum leg.
Members Old Steve
Nah...Aquarian is the only one that I know of. The way I see it, I spent $150 or so on my china cymbal, so an additional $10 isn't such a big deal. I suppose you could "homebrew" something if you're handy enough. BTW, I don't think they're a necessity all the way around on your cymbals. They're most useful on China cymbals since they get mounted upside down. Other cymbals (mounted "right side up") can be protected by simply leaving the wingnut on top of the cymbal stand loose enough to allow free movement. Members Pericles
I only use them with Wuhan chinas, very damn useful, but they do ruin the tilter threds. I Don't know of any other alternative.
Members rockbeat
I just got my first china cymbal ever for a Christmas gift and I'm planning on getting a couple more soon, so that's why I'm looking into the springs. Someone on another forum said that Vater makes something close, but I haven't checked into it yet. I agree that $10 + shipping is a small price to pay to protect a china and I'll probably end up going with the Aquarians, but I'm always looking for a less expensive yet suitable alternative if there is one. Not everyone makes Old Steve's kind of money.

But if you do google it, i doubt 'cymble spring' will garner the response you want. How the hell can you look at these boards all day long and still type cymble...?
