Members sherman22
What sounds good to your ears..... Yamaha Maple or Birch Customs would suit you well, or DW's if you can find them. Also, the Taye drums seem to sound nice and be more affordable. I would go for Yamaha if I were you. :thu:

Members the DW
Since you already have a set of Exports, a Session or Masters shell pack would be your best bet. You already have the necessary hardware! If you do a lot of gigs where the drums are mic'd, I'd go maple. If you do mainly gigs where you are un-mic'd, I'd go birch. $0.

Members Thingfish
I'll sell you a 5pc set of exports for that price.

I think the Pearl Exports are a decent set of drums, although....it is I, who make them sound so good:cool:
Members sherman22
Yamaha birch customs are probobly a good bet, or DW birch shell are nice, and of course DW maples are nice. pearl masters are nothing short of awsome. great drums, great shells, and great hardware. good call. Also, check out the Taye Maples, good hardware, and seem like they sound good, I played the mid-level tayes, and they sounded great. You can get a high-end custom maple Taye kit for like $1500-$2000. :thu:

Pearl hardware is available just about everywhere, and is fairly reasonably priced. A friend of mine has a set of Session Custom birch shells, and they sound great! I think he paid around $1200 for the shell pack.

Members The Evil Dr. X
ok, I went to guitar center and played both the DW and the Pacifics ....... Honestly, it's not night and day, but if I were in a band making alot of money gigging, I certainly could justify springing for the DWs....... but for playing in so - so bars or just jamming in the basement, the Pacifics really don't sound too bad at all and would be fine. I think with good heads the Pacifics would sound pretty awesome. Teh D00d there was trying to sell me some Tama Birch drums with the cast hoops and .... whatever else.....they were like $1400 ....... ...... I forget the model ......
