Just got a set of the 14" Bliss hats this week. Going to give them a work out Live tonight. I like what I hear so far. I tossed them on the set for my students, but haven't been able to do too much with them yet.

I am also waiting for Chris to get more of the 22" rides in. Would like to pick one of those up.

anyone else using theses yet?

I got a 2400g 22" Bliss ride about 2-3 weeks ago. It's pretty much dried it's self out now. Really nice pie. You'd have to spend at least 2.5-3x that much to get something that sounds that good from anyone else.

Schuh says his 20" Bliss' sound as good as his $900 Spiz's do. He bought two 20's and a 22" I think. He said he took his 21" Bosphorus Masters off his stand and stuck one of the 20's on it for his primary ride. He had been using the Bos for 5 years. That's saying something.

What's the weight on your hats?

they are 714/786

I was suprised that I liked the lighter ones. They just had a fatter sound to me. Probably cause I have been playing some 15" vintage A's for my mains for a while now.

I am saving up for the 22 next then maybe a 20. they seem pretty crashable for the size.

Have you been mallet rolling yours cheese?

I did for a bit, then I just played the {censored} out of it with a 5A wood tip ;) But man, it sounds sweet now. If it had more bell, it would be the only thing I'd put on the kit. But I'm kinda diggin' having the two rides. It's nice to have that cutting ride and bell, but then have that nice "tah" to go to when I want it.

The real interesting thing about them is that they have multiple sweet spots. I think I've only really discovered about half of them so far, judging on the amount I've found as of yet. Some really ring out. One has this really rich singing tone in it, I've been laying into that one. But dam, I'm here to tell everyone reading this thread... Those pies are going to go up in price! Get one while they are cheap! I haven't read but one review from one person on the forums I read regularly, and the newsgroup I read that just wasn't thrilled with their Bliss ride. And that person wasn't really down on it, just wasn't what they expected.

If the trend keeps on like it is, and word spreads on these pies like it is now, it won't be long before those 22" rides are $225 instead of $150. And they'll still be worth it. They'd be worth $325. Get one while the gettin' is good.

And remember, I know it sounds weird or even physically impossible to some, but these cymbals will dry out with playing, some as quick as 2 weeks after you get them. If it sounds too wild or washy do mallet rolls on it daily. Really lay into it for a few minutes at a time, several times a day. You'll notice it will dry out and you'll most likely be very pleased with the outcome. Elvin Jones used to do this to his old hand hammered K's when he got them new. It's called "Elvinizing."

Hey aqua, to answer your question:

I am not sure they would be what you are looking for. From reading your other posts I would asume you would be better off with something more moddern sounding.

The Hats are pretty cool. They will take a bit to get used to. Never played anything like them where there are sweet and dead spots. Not well suited for harder rock. Better for jazz, blues or funk. Very musical hats. So far I am pleased with them. They are not very tight sounding. So if you like tight fast hats they are not what you want. I really love the wash you can get from them.
