Members coyote-1
Cross-posted - but relevant to both forums so please forgive me.... I recently acquired a Roland SPD-S sampling pad. I wish to expand it via pedals and pads. It has 2 pad inputs in one 'stereo' jack, and 2 switch inputs via another stereo jack. Some time ago, I purchased some very cheap floor switch pedals at a GC mega-sale, like five bucks apiece. So I saw no issue with attempting to mod one. The mod is very simple: Replace the mono out with a stereo out, and add a mono in jack for the other pedal. I inadvertently cracked the circuit board along the way, but I fashioned a clip that holds the broken piece in exactly the right spot for the switch mechanism to work perfectly. So 15 minutes of drilling, cutting, filing and soldering vs purchasing all Roland's special adapters for whatever $$$ they see fit to charge.... now I simply plug switchpedal 1 into the SPD-S, and pedal 2 into pedal 1. One pedal on each side of the set, with no surplus cable laying around.

I actually would have puchased an off-the-shelf thing except for all the wire that would have been coiled up in the way of other stuff. And I was considering a drum pedal configuration - but the switch inputs are NOT velocity-sensitive. I'm glad I did this; it's exactly what I needed and nothing more. Once Xmas arrives and I get the Roland PD-8 and Pintech Dingbat, it'll be complete. Except then I'll have to figure out a way to mod the PD-8 so that one zone sends low velocity and the other HIGH velocity, without having to think about velocity.
