I just got home from NAMM... Hmmmm...Where to begin with Pearl..

This is exactly how it was explained to me, by the reps....

Sessions are no more...! You can still do custom orders, though

The line now reads like this.....

Export

Vision (actually a Reference Series)

Reference

Export Custom or ECX (these actually come back down from Reference but rank above Vision, they made a special point in telling me this but is exactly how they explained it and exactly how the order proceeds. The reps said that they were still getting used to it, themselves)

Masters

Masters Premium

Masterworks

All new Badges for everything

More on this after I go through some pictures

Are you (they) saying that this list represents the progression of their line? I thought that, from least expensive to most, it was: Master, Referrence, then Masterworks. Could you clarify?

And let me get this straight -- they are going to have a line called Pearl Vision (not to be confused with Pearle Vision)? Will the set come with a free set of lenses?

And thank you for the update. I recently got a Reference brass snare, and love it. It made me contemplate moving up to a Reference or Masters set.

This is how I understand it. One thing that I do know for sure, is that the ECX or Export Customs drop back down from Reference but they are 100% maple shells...

The Masters kits have basically elevated into a more, Premium line and closer in kin to the, Masterworks...

We'll see when Pearl finally updates their website to reflect the changes

I have pictures of the Vision Line

I am pretty sure this is how their new stuff goes. It starts out with the fourum series and stuff. Then it goes the vision which is the birch/basswood. Next is the ECX which has 100% maple shells. I believe the session line was discontinued and the next inline is the masters MCX which is 6 ply maple along with the rest of the different masters series. Then it goes reference and then the masterworks. I think this is correct but i am not fully sure. If there are any mistakes i apologize.

This I do know, for a 100 % fact. Inside the Pearl Vision catalog that I hold in my hand. It states that the Vision's are a "Reference Series Drum"

Both Pearl reps that I spoke with at NAMM, stated that Visions will follow the Exports in line BUT.......Export Customs(ECX) will not follow Exports. They will step back down in the line after either Masters or Reference

Also, there will be, Masters and Masters Premium

I think that the reason that the exports might be considered reference is because of their design. The rack toms are 6 ply and the floor tom and bass drum are 8 ply.

Shows what I know....I thought the "reference series" was their top-of-the-line.

I like the Pearl Vision series....just wait for the eye-doctors to sue 'em for that one. Maybe they can do a co-marketing deal...but a drum kit get a free eye exam.
