Members vogonity
So, I'm going back up to Orlando (finally) and I was wondering what the best way to pack the drums would be. I have a four piece kit and it came with separate bags for each drum but I wasn't sure if I should pop open one side of the bass and drop a tom in it for transport or if that would be possibly harmful to the bass head. I think I'll probably have room to fit it all even if I have to do separate bags but I'm constantly looking to learn the tricks of the trade Thanks. Members D Carroll
if you have bags, i would do individual. the head popping off is for cases in my opinion... the bags tend to flex, and bend, and the cases stay sturdy, so the drum doesn't move around... Members ThePloughman
Bags inside Hard Cases. But soft cases works. You start putting drums inside drums and you will get damage.
Members theDan
wrap the drums in towels before you put them in another drum, do it well and make the padding thick and damage shouldn't be an issue (like pad it to the point where the drum is basically tight in there)
Members marko46
I don't know if you got anything like a Dollar Store around there, but I've bought those egg crate mattress pads there for $8.00, Queen size bed size and you can cut a lot of sections out of that. I bought those hard shell cases a while back for 100.00 on stupid deal of the day and lined each one with it. I then wrap my cymbals, couple at a time, and throw a piece on the head, put the cover on and carry a few that way. I think Symbolic said Pizza Bags work great for cymbal carriers. Gonna get four or five of those.
Members vogonity
Thanks for the input. I'll probably stick to separate bags for this trip to avoid damage. edit: By the way, I have soft bags.
