Members recitor
Hey, I did another recitation last week. Heres a few minutes from it, with a background and translation: Background: This recitation is from Chapter Yusuf of the Qur'an. It recounts the tale of Yusuf (or Joseph), who, as a small child, was abandoned by his jealous brothers in a well besides a road, after they assured their anxious father that they would take care of him. They come to their father that same night, inventing a story about what happened to him. They tell him a that a wolf attacked him and ran off with him while they were busy playing. The recitation picks up from when they present their father with a fake blood stained shirt, and finishes where he is found by a traveller and his wife in the well. Translation: (Time Line in minutes) - (Translated Words) .06-.28 - And they approached their father with a shirt stained with false blood. .38-.58 - And their father said to them, "Surely your souls have compelled you to evil," 1.02 - 1.09 - "And I must endure my pain with patience." 1.12 - 1.21 - "And the help of Allah will suffice against your plots." 1.25 - 1.35 - "And the help of Allah will suffice against your plots." 1.39 - 2.16 - There then approached a caravan of travellers, and they sent out their water drawer. He dropped his bucket and shouted, "Ah what news! There is a child!", and they hid him like a stolen treasure. 2.25 - 3.02 - As above. 3.21 - 3.32 - And surely Allah was watching over what they did. 3.37 - 3.44 - And surely Allah was watching over what they did. 3.52 - 4.16 - And they sold him for a pittance, a few pieces of silver. And they thought so little of him. 4.25 - 4.59 - And the Egyptian who bought him said to his wife, "Make his stay with us pleasant, he may be of benefit to us, perhaps we shall adopt him as our son".
