Members Jersey Jack
kd lang This isn't and cannot be objective, unless we start talking about technique--and even then it's dicey. I like kd lang's music much more than the others, so kd it is. Grace Slick is second. And being from Jersey you don't have to tell me how great Sinatra was. But dude, he isn't on this list. And, please, those of you who are gearing up to tell us how great Freddie Mercury is, or Chris Cornell, or Steve Perry, or whoever....please read the question. Members SevenString
I'll take Grace Slick in her prime, Ann Wilson, or K.D. Lang. Why? They seem to be more "natural" singers. Stevie has a machine-gun vibrato that I can't stand, and even before the drugs, Whitney seemed to be all about Whitney, not the song. Just my opinion. Members romvert
If you're talking technique and flexibility, Whitney hands down. If you want balls (which I know by now you don't...lol), Wilson's your girl.

Members grace_slick
Just to clarify on my own personal tastes and opinions… I LOVE Grace Slick and think her voice (in her prime) was AMAZING. She says her voice is no good and that her range is like, 4 notes and all she can do is “yell”, but I don’t think so. I also LOVE Stevie Nicks, but I’ll admit…if it wasn’t for her charisma and the magic of Fleetwood Mac and all of that, and their great songs (well, I think so anyway), her actual voice all by itself is perhaps more a personal taste…I love it, and she’s actually really good live and sounds not too much different from in the studio, but I can see how some people would find her voice less than impressive. I love Ann Wilson. I think her voice back in her prime was really cool and impressive. Her voice now is still excellent, though she’s lost the smoother edge. Whitney Houston annoys me and I don’t like her, but I always was mildly impressed by her belting capabilities. kd Lang I think is really good. Velvet-voiced and powerful. I’ve seen her live several times and she holds the mic SO far away from her mouth and yet it’s still incredibly loud even if you’re sitting right at the back of the auditorium! Members Williamz
Well it's hard to compare because they are pretty different kind of singers, but I would still say out of those, Whitney Houston is the best. It doesn't take more than a trip to youtube and checking her live performances to see she is much more than just her popcorn diva image.
