Members Jersey Jack
Good stuff! Your voice clearly isn't trained, and it may well not serve you well in other contexts, but for the style of music you're doing I think it's very effective. I do think that you're singing on the low end of your range, so you might want to consider moving the songs up a whole tone, perhaps even more (you'll have to try out the keys and see how they feel). You might also find that your voice suffers if you alter the mix--i.e., if you were to move it more out in front of the guitar. These recordings strike a delicate balance, it seems to me--they work well as they are, but were the voice moved back even a little bit you'd lose the vocal; moving it forward may emphasize the flaws in your voice. So, you're rocking things as they now stand, but I believe that your voice is functioning well in a fairly limited box--alter the genre or the mix and you may be unhappy with the results. If this is your sound, then you're set! If you want to advance into other genres/sounds, you may want to get some lessons. Either way, you're set to make great music! Members Jersey Jack
Yes, I do think lessons will help. You could try a book/CD/DVD course, but the fastest, surest way to improve is to take some lessons. Try a few and see what develops.
