or there is too much of an electro flavor going on in dance music these days? It has inflitrated mainstream house and hip hop. I went to see 3 nationally known DJs (billed as deep house and progressive) and they played nothing but clicks and beeps. If I wanted electro, I would have stayed home and busted out my old Atari :p

yes, indeed....electro and mnml have gotten way to hyped and I'm sick of the desire to always have crackly-glitchy-crunchy little bleeps and bloops in the tracks....but it's a phase and it will die out, the sooner the better, but its comin for sure....but whats next I wonder?

Electro-you can scratch to it, its hardcore not soft, you can rap to it. It infultrated hip hop back in the late 70s and early 80s and has stuck around (Bam, Joe Cooley, Mantronix, Ice T, etc.)

House-you can scratch to it but you shouldn't, its soft as hell, no one will rap over it for fear of catching a beat down.

I'll take the electro any day.

So? What's wrong with electro? You'd really rather hear the same house music forever? What direction would YOU like to see it go?

I am not dismissing ALL electro, just the same old regurgitated commercial crap that I hear. Too many people want to be Benassi and it all sounds the same. It's a case of a trend being exploited until it get's severely watered down and loses it's original appeal. Then it's time to jump onto the next band wagon or ride the next big wave. Kinda like a few years back when too many filtered disco house tracks were being put out. Come on guys, get creative and produce something different for a change.

Where can I find a copy of that guide book of rules? Who said you shouldn't scratch or rap over house? I can hear Larry Levan and Kool Rock Steady stirring in their graves. Rules are what stifle experimentation, creativity and diversity in music. You know what happens then, right?

P/S Incidently, I would like to say that it great to discuss topics such as this instead of the tiresome "DJs are not musicians". :thu:
