I don't have anything bad to say about Logic 7. It's a wonderful application. It's a bit expensive but you get some great plug-ins and virtual instruments. However, any support from Apple for Logic costs you big $!
M-Powered Pro Tools 7.1 has been great for me. What kind of things have you heard?

Yes, they've lowered the price on the Fast Track Pro recently. The three main features you get with the SOLO are 1. Balanced/+4 TRS outputs (allowing for less noise and a stronger signal to your powered monitors), 2. 24-bit/96kHz operation (which means better converters, which means better sound quality even if you record at 44.1kHz) and 3. a more rugged metal chassis.
The FTP does offer two mic pres with inserts giving you the option of using a compressor, MIDI I/O as well as four outputs, but they are on RCA jacks. Here you are limited to 48kHz (if you use inputs and outputs simultaneously, if you just need stereo playback you can run at 96kHz.)
You really can't go wrong with either one. I'd say FTP for the more serious user that needs MIDI and SOLO for songwriters.

The Firewire Solo is the best interface in it's price range. You can record 2 anlog inputs and the stereo S/PDIF input simultaneously at 24-bit/96kHz. You can use the balanced analog inputs on the back for external mic pres, keyboards, etc or you can use the mic input and the instrument input for recording vocals and guitar. This interface was created with the song writing guitarists in mind. No MIDI because you don't need it. A high quality mic pre, a high quality instrument input with plenty of gain and balanced inputs for connecting external analog devices and an S/PDIF digital input for recording digitally from a POD/Keyboard, ect with the ability to record at 24-bit/96kHz resolution. It's compatible with all popular DAWs including M-Powered Pro Tools. You can't go wrong.

Here's a sample of a rock tune I'm working on. It features a Bogner Uber guitar amp, a GK 800 bass amp, a new SCI FI effect in the begining and a filter effect in the verse.
I had to export this as a 24Kbps MP3 to allow it
to be posted. It really doesn't do it justice.

I've been recording with these new models and man do the amps sound better! The bass amp models are a big help too.
Bravo Roger!

I just got it. The documentation is very good. I'm really impressed with this upgrade. The reverb and compressor are great and you can use them at the same time with the delay and time based FX for 4 simultaneous FX plus the amp model and gate.
The Mid Range control for the amp models really helps you dial in a good tone and the new amp models are great. There are bass amp models which will really help with my bass recording in M-Powered Pro Tools.
I finally got my Black Box Pedal Board the other day too. http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/BlackBoxPedalBoard-main.html
What a great tool. You can get a Black Box with the Pedal Board for $199 now! M-Powered Pro Tools is only $249. Plus you get tons of drum loops and Ableton Live Lite 4 GTR. If you're a guitar player/song writer you simply can't get a better recording system.

There is new Black Box fimware available from M-Audio that REALLY improves the unit.
http://www.m-audio.com/news/en_us-664.html
It ups the amount of amp models from 12 to 40 and includes 121 different FX! Reverb and Compression have also been added. The sound of everything is better.
Also, the Black Box can be used as an audio interface for M-Powered Pro Tools 7.0. I've been using it with PT for a while and it works great.
M-Audio Firewire Solo, a good buy?
