Yeah, that was a good call.  The depth of control it affords is really nice, but a bit of a hassle to navigate.

Instill use my Pod X3 and still love it.  It has a fairly steep learning curve but a lot of control.  The preset sounds were janky, but you get nearly anything out of it, if you spend some time. 

This may or may not apply to the 500x.

I would go beyond "some" and say "all, to some extent". But I'm quite cynical.

Exactly why I got into recording. (and a large part of why I got out of it)

I don't care how awesome your band is or how many records you sell. I'll do the best job I can and you can pay me by the hour.

I had one that I called "Bitch", but we didn't have the best relationship...
