  1. I know one guy who uses nothing but Fruity Loops and makes some killer material, but his sound card sucks so much he can't hear almost any of the bass frequencies, so when he burns it all to a CD and listens to it on a CD player or a stereo he's blown away because so much of the dynamics of his work were muted by his sound card's horrible quality.

Your buddy could fix this problem with a $200 soundcard. His unwillingness to do so has nothing whatsoever to do with Mac vs. PC issues. I've had Macs and PCs with less than stellar soundcards too and replaced them. If he wont do that, then he isnt serious about his music.

Or as ew pointed out, he's probably using crap speakers to monitor with. Again, a few hundred bucks can fix that.

A friend of mine works for a major retailer of music gear in the dept. that sells music software and recording gear. His opinion based on the numbers is that people are fed up with Apple's constant fiddling with OSX that affect backward compatibility and forces endless application upgrades. People are going PC.

And it's not the $$$ this time either, it's the software hoop jumping. The Mac Intel thing seems to be the straw that broke the camel's back for a lot of people.

Mac users these days are scratching their heads over why their beloved Logic, the most overrated software in history, hasnt been updated in ages. The fact that Apple is devoting so much of their programming resources towards the iPhone and other like gizmos shows where Apple's true priorities are at the moment. This seems to be making many Mac users uncomfortable.

I have both a Mac and PC here in my studio BTW. Whether I ever get another Mac is kind of in doubt at this point though.
