Pinon nuts (put a ~ over the first n) are the seeds of the Pinon pine tree. They are hard to get a hold of, because they only seed once every 7 years, and you have to find a group of them that are seeding. We spent a week driving around northern NM looking for them once, but when you find them, you can put a tarp under a tree, shake the tree, and come up with 2+lbs of nuts.

I just checked a couple of sources online and they were sold out. I'll call a friend of mine down in Trinidad that might have some, if I can land a pound I'll send them your way.
