That's ridiculous.
Not 'rediculous.'

I sold a Gibson LP Doublecut Faded last summer on CL for $475, and it took a while to sell. It was mint.
My local GC had a EPI Elitist LP Custom up for sale forever at $899. Nobody bought if for about a year. They shipped it to another store to see how it would do.
A chipped Elitist SG, I think you're looking at $450 if you're very lucky.

The answer is yes. Many times. It's a lesson I seem incapable of learning.

I bought one new in the late 1980's. Kept it for 15 years, but it never sounded good. Sold it a few years ago.
Just picked up another one about 2 months ago, it's fairly new. Probably a few years old. Sounds much, much better. I can even get some nice sounds out of it. Could it be that the older ones really blow, and the newer models are pretty good?

Since you mentioned that it had a headstock repair, it seems like a good idea to show a few pictures of the repaired area. As it is, one can only imagine.
As if we needed it, now we have a reason to HATE John Mayer

I find his music un-listenable, but all in all he seems like an okay guy.
