Nice article Phil. I'm looking for some tubes for my '77 JMP 2203. It's got 6550s and I can't decide if I want to change it over to EL34s. I would like the ability to get a little more gain out of it but even with the 6550s, it sounds like God's amp when it's really pushing. I don't want to sacrifice that part of the equation. I'm just hoping I can get that tone at a lower volume.
