  1. I cannot get my microphone to work properly...Using Cakewalk Creator 4...I am new to this. I use my onboard Windows audio recorder to test my microphone first. I know how to configure Cakewalk to recognize my audio source. I can use my gaming headset microphone with the onboard audio to work fine. First I tried to use a standard hand held dynamic microphone with a 1/4 to 1/8 adapter. It did not work. I installed a Creative Soundblaster Audigy soundcard...speakers work fine...microphone input won't detect anything. I have gone through the windows sound set up, device is operational, updates installed, microphone volumes are turned up, etc..won't work. I could not get my sound card microphone input to work in any configuration, speakers do work fine.

I next ran my microphone through my Behringer 802 mixer (it supposedly has a preamp). The level indicators indicated a good signal. I had used this set up on an older computer a while back and it worked fine). This did not work with onboard audio or the sound card. Switched out cables and adapters to make sure nothing was bad. I finally used my guitar amp as a preamp. The "headphones" output did not work with either the onboard audio or the soundcard. The "speaker" output from my guitar amp used with the onboard audio on my computer produced enough signal to use. This is ridiculous. Microphone input should not need 20 watts of input power from a guitar amp, especially when my unpowered headset gaming microphone works fine. Does anyone have any idea what may be going on?
