Today's date is 16th February 2022. I just went on Amazon UK to order a set of Ernie Ball Regular Slinky Nickel Wound Electric Bass Strings 50-105 Gauge priced at almost £20 (UK pounds) for a set.- irrespective of where the strings are made, they are most certainly mass produced & packaged by machines, and the steel they are made from is most probably sourced from China. To my mind thats a tidy profit because £20 quid is bloody expensive for x4 bits of wire, I feel like writing to Ernie Ball & asking for a discount - it's a short scale Bass!
You may have counterfeits. A lot of the info in this thread is outdated. Dean Markley and Fender do not manufacture strings, they buy from Daddario. Ernie Ball, Daddario, and GHS manufacture strings, I think everyone else buys from them now in the USA. Lots of fakes coming from China.

nvm, i figured it out. the fender picks are made from celluloid which warps and breaks down in no time.
Yup. I used to gig with them. Used 1 every couple of songs. I switched to 3mm Dunlop stubbies. They last forever, and my playing has greatly improved.

I always heard he plugged straight into a Marshall JTM45 that they usually kept hidden back/under the stage.....
One of the guitar mags had a pic of his rig a few years back. There was a JTM45 running a dummy speaker box and 4 plexi reissues onstage, -
The polepieces are kind of jagged and when I speedpick the tip of the pick hits them sometimes and wears out the tip faster than regular polepieces would. It isn't so much of a problem with regular picks, but I'm using Jazz III XL's and I don't really enjoy wearing the tips out on those too fast. They sound great though, I love the sound of Carvin AP-11s.My Strat with the AP-11s is out of commission now anyways, tho.
Try some Dunlop Stubbies. Takes months to wear one out.

Every single band on Headbanger's Ball these days. Screaming is great if you're good at it and use it sparingly. All the new metal bands suck...
