  1. Nope, the 513 PU's are proprietary sized and routed. You would have to route the guitar to use traditional humbuckers and even have to route it to use a Strat-style single coil. And even after the route, there would be remains of the old pickup routes at the ends,.

that's exactly my point. its POSSIBLE. yes difficult, but possible if you feel like routing and changing out the entire wiring scheme

  2. I thought about this some more and got to thinking - I mean, technically you could put any kind of pickups and any kind of wiring into any kind of guitar you want...

If you wanted, you could rip out those pickups, put in 2 'buckers and a single coil and just throw a normal 5-way switch in there and change the 3-way to a mini toggle to split the 'buckers.

But in this case, the 513 is all about those pickups and that switching capability. Take that away and you no longer have a 513 - you just have a sweet PRS with aftermarket PUPs in it.

So i guess to simply answer your question, you could put whatever pickups in there you want, but you probably will have to change the rest of the wiring, too. But, it could be done. I mean, I don't see why it couldn't. It just wouldn't be a "513."

  3. Yea those pickups are so specialized I highly doubt you will be able to find replacement PUPS, let alone someone who won't charge you an arm and a leg to figure out how to wire it.

The whole "thing" to those 513s are the pickups and the switching versatility.

  4. Those damned new fangled automatic mobiles. They'll never take off.

Nothing can ever replace the horse and buggy.

Yeah. I never got to see Beethoven, My GOD, perform. I never will.

But you'd better believe if they had the technology back then to capture one of his performances, and then present it in modern day as a hologram performance, I would sell a kidney to go see it! Say, His debut of The ninth symphony in which he guest conducted while being totally deaf, you bet your ass I would sell a kidney to go see it.

    It is just technology.

I believe just about all conceivable mediums are fair game for presenting art.

How freeking cool is that we have the ability to see a virtual performance of something that would have been impossible before the technology.

    Look at it this way.....
Why is it perfectly acceptable to go see a two dimensional performance of a concert, otherwise known as video, but add a third dimension and all of a sudden it is {censored}?

Pretty narrow minded thinking if you ask me.

Careful y'all don't get too close to the edge of the world. You might fall off.

Cause a music video won't cost me $100 for nosebleed seats :cop:

but I see your point. I'm not criticizing the technology as much as greed I guess :idk:

  5. So I just got into a fairly heated debate with one of my room mates over this...

I dont know if any of you saw it, but at Cochella this year, they "revealed" a hologram of Tupac rapping on stage. My room mate thinks its awesome and insists they start making full bands come back to life.

I think its retarded. Why do I want to go to a concert and see a hologram "perform?" They won't be playing their real instruments, all you will hear is the album recording over the PA. Let the legends rest in peace. They were so great because they were human- they had limited time on this earth.

    TLDR; holograms are dumb

  6. The sharps are great! They're like a magnet for strings. Which is awesome for leads but I eventually realized that pointed picks didn't feel right to me for rhythm. Have you noticed that at all or are you completely used to them?

Yeah, I'm always experimenting with picks. It's cheap and fun.

I LOVE the ultex sharps! use them for everything- rhythm and leads. when I play, I tend to hold it so there is only a tiny tiny bit of the pick showing that I pick with. so when I do fast rhythm sections, I end up strumming a lot of it with the top of my right index finger.

my only gripe about them is that after a few shows or rehearsals they lose their sharp edge. i throw them away when they get too stubby

  7. I carry the same 15 picks in my pocket all the time so they're nice and worn in feeling. Doesn't matter which one I grab, it's the right one.

really? I only like playing brand new picks. I hate when the edges start to round too much. you lose picking accuracy. I throw out my picks after probably a handful of uses
