I had to re-check the date of this thread. I thought it was made 3 years ago. Give the guy a break, he's been out of the "limelight" for a while and came out with a pretty good ass album recently. He also has vocal problems and {censored} .... Who cares about his guitar or what fender does to sell guitars...

Hey, I wouldn't mind getting some thoughts/opinions on these mixes. I mixed it ITB with no experience when I started out. We're a 4 piece and recorded the songs live with punch-ins after.
My concerns deal with the overall blend and quality of instruments and vocals, especially drums. I think my overheads are a bit loud sometimes, but after hearing these mixes over a thousand times I begin to lose my mind a little, so any objective thoughts are appreciated.
Further disclaimer: These were all multi-tracked in a big live room.
Mic's generally speaking
Drums: about 10 separate tracks
Bass and two basic guitars each with 1 mic.
and then quite a bit of layering for guitar overdubs, leads, etc. ; say between 3 to 8 extra tracks of guitars per song.
We produced it ourselves, no label. The sound goal is probably somewhere between indie and major.

I don't want him to not have a stake in the tune. I just don't want him to prevent the three of us from playing the song in whatever form we want, cause that wouldn't be fair.
On the copyright.gov site, you mention the authors of the sound recording, and then you choose who you want the rights reserved to. So what's the deal with this? Is it just on a first come first to get the complete rights to the song basis? What does it mean or what can it mean if him and I are both mentioned as authors and I am mentioned as copyright owner? -
My band and I just "fired" our bass player. I want to copyright our most finished songs so he doesn't prevent us from using it. What is the right and fair way to do this?
Technically I created the particular song in question along with this guy, but I want to copyright it so that the band and I have the right to perform the song and beyond. He played some bass lines, I came up with the guitar chords over it. He came up with the first few lines of lyrics and melody in a tone def way. I completed the melody, added a chorus and changed most of the lyrics to suit my updated melody. I played guitar and sang the song, did most of the arranging, and all of the mixing and mastering. So technically this is a pure collaboration. What to do? -
Whoever posts after me is a gay incest bred faggot.

Memorizing details is one thing, but get out a bit .... It's not difficult to know who john mayer is, it's probably more difficult to not know. You know? I call bull{censored} on most people who claim to never hear of such and such. And while we're at it, isn't using the term "douchenozzle" sort of douchey?
