  1. You know, all pickups are different. I would look to see what the Duesenbergs
    can
do that your other pickups can't, versus looking at it the other way around.

Like different tools for different jobs type thing. But, if you are looking to make it your #1 because of the way it feels or something, then I would get a set of pickups that are exactly tailord to what it is you are looking to do when you play. Pickups are not that expensive, especially for guys with $1500 guitars.

The GFS pups might do it for you, one way to find out. But if they don't, you will then need to go out and spend the coin to get the pickups you should have bought in the first place, and they will cost more because you lost money on the GFS pups, ..been there.

That said, pots and capacitor values can make a big difference on how pickups sound, if they are a little too dark or too bright. And switching between guitars you will sometimes have to make radical changes in your amp settings to get the goods.

    Anyway, just some ideas.

Good points.....It's nice to have different guitars with different pickups (with their own strengths and weaknesses) for different voicings. You can tweak the tone of a set of pickups in a guitar like you mention too by playing with component values and pickup/pole height.

OP: what is it exactly you don't like about the distorted tone?

  2. Just out of curiousity, what do you people plan on doing when you're old and wrinkly and realize the stupid metal tattoo you got is {censored}ing stupid

Plan to do about what? I don't follow why I'd be less comfortable with who I am at 80 than I am today...that's just a fairly absurd concept IMHO. Course, I don't have any stupid metal tattoos in the first place so take it for what it's worth.

  3. I'm ok with that. Morally, I know it's 100% clean. The rightful owner blessed the transaction. If anything, I would be an accessory to his insurance fraud.

Do you have a moral issue with the transaction, or are you an ex hall monitor from grammar school? I don't give two {censored}s about the legality of any of these infractions in this thread. I have a moral problem with them, though.

I merely responded to your simple but incorrect statement that the shop owner was the only person committing a criminal act. For someone that doesn't give two {censored}s, that response is a lot of {censored}s.

  4. HOLY CRAP. I thought you had disappeared. Haven't seen you in ages! How you been?

Is the new board less offensive to you than the original one?
    :D

ahh there it is!! Yes, the new board gets my endorsement!

I've been good...busy. The site was blocked at work for quite a while so it's good to be back.

  5. Wood guitars in general, amps, effects, and accessories found in GC/MF, and most M & P stores.

It gets old really fast if you have been playing longer then 10 years.

I actually think that most of that box store stuff is pretty cool when it comes down to it for the simple fact that I wish there was so much basically decent lower priced gear to choose from when I started out.

  6. Stevie Ray Vaughanabees

There was a point where every event that had live entertainment would feature a dime store version of a Vaughanabee, sometimes with just the silly hat. It was enough to make me never want to hear his music for a good span of years.

Me? I'm getting really tired of open mike/local night performers that think an extremely emotional performance is a replacement for decent songs or some practice.

any ideas on a technique to get some blank foam and cut it as a f-hole? I have never worked with foam before...

trace your shape onto the foam with a marker then cut it with scissors, electric carving knife, razor knife, or hot knife (or also called a hot wire knife) depending on the foam you are using.
