Yamaha Commercial Audio announced Version 2 (V2) software for the DM2000 and DM1000 digital mixing consoles. V2 is available as an upgrade for current DM owners and will be included in new DM2000 and DM1000 production models (notated as DM2000V2 and DM1000V2).

Compatible with both Windows 2000/XP and Macintosh OS X (including Panther) platforms, V2 represents a significant upgrade for each console's system software and accompanying Studio Manager software. Studio Manager V2, included as part of the upgrades, retains the user's ability to manage all console parameters from a computer via a graphic interface, and provides console editing, librarian and remote control functions. Functions are replicated on-screen in logical pages. Studio Manager V2 also provides a platform of total system recall for multiple, compatible-format consoles and effects products.

DM2000V2 provides the capability to run Yamaha's Virtual Circuit Modeling-based "Add-On Effects" packages, expanded DAW integration, advanced surround functions and approximately 50 new features, including several designed specifically for the sound reinforcement and broadcast markets.

While the original DM1000 already contained many of the features of the DM2000V2, the new DM1000V2 includes approximately 25 additional items, including ESAM II editor control, Global Paste, improved automation functions and the ability to run the new "Add-On Effects." The DM1000V2 surround features are fully compatible with 3.1, 5.1 and 6.1 surround processing, and panning and monitoring requirements.

The Yamaha DM2000V2 and DM1000V2 (along with the 02R96V2) are equipped with complete built-in surround monitoring facilities, offering a complete surround solution when used in combination with the Yamaha MSP10 Studio monitors. That advantage has recently been recognized with the product line receiving THX pm3 Certification in the areas of "Studio Monitoring Systems" and "Front & Surround Speakers." In addition, three new console Bass Management Presets have also received approval for use in THX pm3 Certified Studios, which are designed to provide dedicated parameters for DVD-Music, DVD-Video and Film production.
