Work was recently completed on the Acoustic Studio, a new facility in the companies acoustic guitar factory in La Patrie, Quebec. The new high-end production area is essentially a 25,000 expansion within the larger Seagull guitar factory. The Acoustic Studio provides an environment where the companys most talented luthiers craft the Seagull Artist Series guitars. The Artist Series acoustics require extra production time and the separate facility provides a more tranquil environment where the pace of production slows appropriately for the individual attention to detail that these instruments require.

Seagull is celebrating the new Acoustic Studio with two new Artist Series models making their debut at the Summer NAMM show in Nashville. The Artist Rosewood Spruce and the Mahogany Cedar are the first full size-non-cutaway guitars in the Artist line-up. The Rosewood Spruce features a solid spruce top, solid Indian rosewood back and a genuine lacquer finish-buffed out to a high gloss. The Mahogany Cedar features a solid cedar top, solid mahogany back and a semi gloss lacquer finish.

All of the Seagull Artist Series guitars are made with solid backs and the companys highest-grade solid tops (spruce or cedar) a key ingredient in the superb sound of these instruments. Sides are made using a three-way matching hardwood lamination. This technique produces more stable support for the top and back and increased resistance to cracking-without any discernable impact on sound.

The bound headstocks of the Artist Series are inlayed with abalone Seagull logos and each guitar includes a mother-of-pearl seagull inlayed at the twelfth fret.
