Digital Audio Labs announced shipment to dealers of their new synchronization interface card for their V8 digital audio workstation platform. The Timing Gear provides a comprehensive set of synchronization functions allowing integration of the V8 into video post production and sweetening environments. The Timing Gear locks the V8's sample clock to all standard SMPTE formats via LTC or VITC. The Timing Gear also provides MIDI Time Code out and a video window burn out. A future upgrade will add two RS422 machine control ports. Timing Gear functionality is supported by MxTrax from Minnetonka Software and Samplitude Studio from SEK'D.

The V8 is a set of cards and rack mount peripherals that turns a PC into a multichannel digital audio recording, editing, and mixing studio. A fully loaded V8 system is capable of up to 16 channels of disk playback, over 32 channels of realtime automated mixing, 16 channels of I/O, and dozens of simultaneous realtime effects. Software to operate the V8 is available entirely from third party application and plug-in developers. System pricing for the V8 starts at $2500 plus software.
