Turner Guitars of Santa Cruz, California has announced that Rick Turner will build a limited-edition run of 120 Model One guitars for the year 2001. The Model One initially gained fame as Lindsay Buckinghams (Fleetwood Mac) guitar of choice since he took delivery of Serial #79-003 in 1979. Although the Model One has been seen on stages around the world, theyve been notoriously hard to purchase. In the 22 years since the Model Ones introduction, only 250 units have been built. Each was a custom order, and waiting times have generally run 18 to 24 months.

The Turner Model One is a unique, solid body electric guitar featuring incredible craftsmanship and detailing. The mahogany body is carved into an elegant shape reminiscent of Old World lutherie, and the neck and headstock alone are made up of ten layers of alternating laminates, milled together and bonded flawlessly.

The primary humbucking pickup assembly is mounted on an exclusive rotating plate for tonal adjustment. The optional active electronics upgrade features a low-noise, variable gain 18 volt pre-amp, newly re-designed for 2001 by Highlander Musical Audio. Other options include a piezo bridge pickup with blending electronics, and a choice of figured maple top woods.

Due to a recent factory expansion, Turner Guitars is now able to offer the Model One to the public for the first time, with a substantially reduced waiting period. However, production will still be strictly limited to 120 units for the year, due to the extensive handwork required. As of January, many orders have already been accepted, and over half the years production is already pre-sold.

Free brochures are available, describing the Model One in detail. Model Ones must be purchased from authorized retailers.
