  • New Version of USB-ASIO Driver Released

    By Guest |

One year after the release of their first USB ASIO driver for Windows, Propagamma is back with version two. The USB ASIO driver connects external soundcards with a number of audio applications and virtual instruments at latencies so low you can't feel them any longer: down to 4ms according to the company. A simple laptop in conjunction with a USB audio interface can be used as a realtime instrument or effect box even live on stage.

The driver's V2.0 for Windows 98/SE/ME/2000/XP follows the second Mac version which was released last August. It's main advantage is a dramatic increase in performance meaning that more of the computer's CPU power can be used for what it's meant for: Sound generation and effect processing.

A number of companies decided to license and bundle this driver to their hardware, so this update will be available for free to the following devices: Aardvark USB3, Ego-Sys U2A / U24, Ego-Sys Gigaport AG & DG, Sound Devices USB pre, Swissonic USB Studio (D), Media-Assistance USB One and Yamaha UW500.

Propagamma also sells this driver for users of other audio interfaces. This commercial driver supports Edirol UA-1A, Edirol UA-3, Griffin's iMic, Opcode DAT-/SonicPort, Onkyo MSE-U33(HB), Onkyo SE-U55 and Roland-ED UA-30. The price of the USB ASIO driver is EUR 60, about US$53. A demo version is available.
