  • New Music Scanning Software from Musitek

    By Guest |

SmartScore.jpg Musitek has introduced and publicly demonstrated SmartScore, their next generation music scanning software, being developed for both Windows 95/98 and Macintosh computers. Unlike MIDISCAN, SmartScore includes a complete music scoring and MIDI sequencing environment, now allowing users to creating scores using the mouse, keyboard, real-time MIDI instrument performance, MIDI files, and, of course, a scanner. When using a scanner, the recognition is much improved over earlier versions MIDISCAN, with up to 98% accuracy.

SmartScore is also capable of playing back scores via MIDI, including recognition of repeats, dynamics, and articulation markings in the score. Songs can be quickly transposed, and when it's time to print, you can print out entire scores or individual parts, all within minutes of scanning.

    Features

    • Automatic linking of collapsing and expanding parts to MIDI tracks.
    • Automatic recognition and display of contrapuntal voices with direct voice-to-MIDI channel linking.
    • Extensive page layout control.
    • Full featured MIDI editor including Overview, Piano Roll, and Events list.
    • Up to 32 staff lines/MIDI channels per system.
    • 15 pre-formatted score templates.
    • Multiple levels of undo
    • Scanning with automatic skew correction.
    • TWAIN compatible. Supports multipage TIFF files.

The Windows 95/98 version of SmartScore will ship on February 1, 1999. The PowerMacintosh version should be available in March of 1999. MSRP US$399.00. Registered owners of MIDISCAN and PianoScan can pre-order SmartScore and save $20 on Musitek's web site.
