Marshall Electronics, Inc., Culver City, CA has announced its new Pro Audio division with the goal of producing affordably priced products for the home recording market.

The first product to be introduced will be the MXL 2001, a 1-inch gold diaphragm cardioid condenser microphone. The MXL 2001 weighs in at close to one pound with its heavy duty brass enclosure. Its 1-inch gold diaphragm is coupled through a electromagnetic screen to the electronic circuitry including a true balanced output, low distortion 200 ohm transformer. The single pattern condenser delivers full frequency bandwidth, high SPL level and low noise. It requires a standard 48 V phantom power supply.

The MXL 2001 is finished in a smooth black satin and comes complete with mic stand adapter. Suggested list price will be $199.95 (a higher list price was displayed on the Marshall Electronics web site, but $199.95 is the new list price, and doesn't include isolation shock mount or road case.) Available accessories will include a high isolation shock mount ($49.95) and a phantom power supply ($69.95).

Marshall will also introduce a complete range of long body supercardioid gooseneck mics with heavy duty plug-in XLR bases and boundary type mics.
