EMU-ENSONIQ has announced several improvements to their Emulator' 4 product line including two new hardware cards (the ADAT I/O card, and "DWAM" card) and a new version of EOS software. The ADAT card provides multichannel digital I/O to all Emulator 4 products, and the DWAM card adds AES/EBU I/O, word clock I/O, ASCII interface, and a second MIDI port to the E6400 Ultra model. Software enhancements announced include the EOS 4.0 operating system upgrade for previous generation Emulator 4 users, as well as the EOS Link software program that allows Emulator 4 owners to completely control their instruments over SCSI using a Macintosh computer (A PC version of the software is expected to be available by the end of the summer.)

ADAT Digital I/O Card for Digital Studio Connectivity

The ADAT I/O card allows all E4 product line owners to sample two of the 8 incoming ADAT lightpipe inputs as well as output 16 separate audio channels in two separate 8 channel streams. The ADAT option allows users to connect their Emulator 4 samplers to digital gear such as recorders, digital mixers, and digital audio workstations. The ADAT interface works with ALL E4 family products except e64, retails for $549, carries part number 6861, and is available now.

DWAM card allows upgrades to new E6400 Ultra

The DWAM card (Digital / Word Clock / ASCII / MIDI) allows E6400 Ultra users to upgrade the I/O of their units. The DWAM card supports AES - EBU digital I/O, word clock input and output for connection to digital mixers, ASCII interface that allows direct connection of a PC ASCII keyboard for rapid navigation through the system, and a second MIDI port that enables the E6400 Ultra to handle up to 32 separate MIDI channels simultaneously. The DWAM card carries part number 6862, a retail price of $395 and is available now.

EOS Link allows remote control via Host computer

The EOS Link software package allows E4 instrument owners to control their instruments via Macintosh using SMDI, which stands for SCSI over MIDI. The software package allows users to completely control their samplers from a Macintosh computer. The software package will also be made available in PC format later this summer. EOS link is provided free to all purchasers of the new E4 ULTRA line of samplers who return their warranty cards, and through the EOS 4.0 + Link software upgrade to all other customers for $129 retail.

EOS 4.0 Software Upgrade adds new features

Owners of previous generation EOS based samplers are able to take advantage of the new EOS 4.0 software which adds the ability to import S3000 format banks, 2 new DSP tools (bit convert and phase linear filter), 6 additional patchcords per voice, new LFO waveforms, better PC compatibility via SCSI, support for EOS Link, support for the ADAT I/O, improved MIDI response time, improved looping capabilities, improvements to the sequencer, and more.

EOS 4.0 is available now in two configurations: Model 6853 is EOS 4.0 by itself with a retail price of $89, Model 6854 is EOS 4.0 + EOS Link Mac remote control software which retails for $129. Owners of e-6400, E4X, and E4XT models are encouraged to upgrade their hardware to the new ULTRA platform which provides 32 bit processing, Beat Munging, and support for more extensive I/O. The ULTRA direct-to-factory upgrade package, part number 6890, will be available this Summer and range in price from $995 to $1395 depending on the user's model. Owners of E4K and E-Synth Keyboards should contact the factory for special upgrade offers.
