Alvarez-Yairi is pleased to introduce the new DY500 Masterworks Presentation dreadnought. The DY500 is the "flagship" of the Alvarez Yairi line, representing a marriage of uncompromising performance and advanced cosmetics.

Each example of the DY500 is individually hand crafted in the shop of master luthier Kazuo Yairi. Utilizing only the finest materials from his legendary supply of naturally aged tonewoods, Yairi has created an instrument for the discerning player who demands not only the utmost in tone and playability, but requires a visual elegance beyond the ordinary.

The DY500 top is bookmatched from solid, tight-grained North American spruce, producing tremendous volume and projection. Hand scalloped bracing creates an exceptionally balanced sound between highs, mids, and lows. The solid aged Indian Rosewood back and sides produce a complex, deep bass tonality, with clear, articulate treble response. A thin, natural lacquer finish is used to protect the wood, to allow maximum projection, and to promote dramatic tonal improvement over time. The DY500 utilizes the patented Yairi Direct Coupled Bridge, which creates a more efficient transfer of string vibration to the top than traditional bridge designs and provides a unique visual identity. A one piece Honduras mahogany neck is attached to the body utilizing the traditional dovetail joint for optimum mechanical coupling of the neck to the body.

Adorned with elegant cosmetics, the DY500 includes a full complement of maple binding, gold die cast tuning machines and generous use of abalone inlay on the body, fretboard and headstock. For more than 60 years the Yairi family has pursued the craft of guitar building, using time honored materials and techniques. In a computerized era, Yairi chooses to build guitars by hand, resulting in individual instruments that possess truly unique sonic and cosmetic qualities.

Alvarez Yairi guitars are crafted to exacting tolerances and are covered by a Limited Lifetime Warranty.
