Limited Edition 75th Anniversary Light Crust Doughboys Instruments
By Guest |
The Light Crust Doughboys are the longest-running band in the history of recorded music and are credited with inventing Western Swing music. Formed in 1931, they are also renowned for their work in Southern music, gospel, and country and western. The group won a Grammy in 2003 and has been nominated seven times in the past eight years.
In conjunction with the 75th Diamond Anniversary of the band, ASC is offering a limited edition series consisting of seven fretted instrument models – a banjo, mandolin, electric bass, cutaway dreadnought, hollow-body electric guitar, and two solid-body electric guitars (one single-cutaway, the other a double-cutaway). A gorgeous new custom finish, "Biscuit Brown" burst, adorns all models.
The instruments will be available singly or in sets. Dealers stocking LCD sets will receive a point-of-purchase display to help promote and tell the LCD story. To quote The Dallas Morning News, "The Light Crust Doughboys are to Western Swing what Bill Monroe is to Bluegrass. When the ultimate Western Swing and Texas music book is written, The Light Crust Doughboys will be in chapter one, page one."
In a radical departure from accepted practice, the limited edition series will be offered at entry-level prices, so the striking stringed instruments will be attractive to -- and find a market with -- beginners and students as well as fans, working musicians, and collectors.
