In an attempt to deliver a complete software and hardware solution for music production on your computer, be it Mac or PC, Emagic has delivered their new Audiowerk2 Production Kit. On the hardware side, the product bundle includes the Audiowerk2 digital audio PCI card which offers 2 channels of recording and 4 channels of playback, digital and analog. Windows MME, Mac Sound Manager, and ASIO drivers are included.
Macintosh users will be able to compose and record audio and MIDI tracks using MicroLogic AW2. It offers unlimited MIDI tracks and 12 audio tracks (stereo or mono). Audio effects like 3-band EQ, reverb, chorus, and delay can be applied, and a stereo sample editor is also included for precise editing. A QuickTime movie player is also included, making it easy to produce soundtracks that play back in sync. The Mac version of the Audiowerk2 Production Kit also includes Emagic's WaveBurner audio CD mastering software, which allows you to create Red Book audio CDs.
For those that use Windows machines, the Production Kit comes with Logic Audio Composer, a complete audio and MIDI sequencer with real-time effects, Time Machine pitch shifting/time stretching, and support for DirectX plug-ins. It provides unlimited MIDI tracks and up to 16 tracks of audio (stereo or mono).
Both Windows and Mac users will be able to make use of Emagic's ZAP (Zero-loss Audio Packer), which is included as well. With it, you can compress audio files for distribution on the Internet without any artifacts. The ZAP "unpacker" is available for free from Emagic's web site. (See the ZAP for Windows press release for details on ZAP)
