At the Winter NAMM show, Edirol announced the release of the 2x2 USB MIDI Interface (UM-2C) at a new lower price. The re-vamped UM-2C has all of the same technology as the UM-2 including Edirol's "Fast Processing Technology". In addition to the lower price, the UM-2C is now packaged in a consumer friendly, see-through box front.

    About the UM-2C

The UM-2C is a compact, portable 2x2 MIDI interface. It can control up to 32 channels of MIDI information to & from your computer. The UM-2C draws power from the computer, so there are no messy wall warts.

The UM-2C has signal indicators for each input & output on the device and can support fast & stable MIDI data transmission through Edirol's FPT (Fast Processing Technology.)

    About FPT

FPT is the technology that allows for high speed, high resolution MIDI data transmission by a combination of driver and hardware improvements to take advantage of the high-speed extensive transmission capability of USB. The Driver for FPT based hardware devices uses an optimal transmission method depending on the amount of MIDI data being transmitted. The driver utilizes the bandwidth of USB effectively depending on the amount of MIDI data being transmitted. This allows the communication to be stable and very fast.

    Benefits of FPT include:

    • Low latency and low jitter in extensive MIDI data transmission
    • Superior Real-time performance
    • Effective with any music application software

    Suggested retail price is $75.
