  • Soundelux Microphones Unveils New ELUX 251 Microphone

    By Guest |

Soundelux Microphones Designer and Vice President David Bock unveiled the new Soundelux ELUX 251 at the 2000 Audio Enginecring Society Convention today in Los Angeles. The ELUX 251 microphone is modeled after the classic Telefunken 251, and offers the same performance as vintage models but at a significantly lower cost. The ELUX 251 is the latest microphone from the makers of the award winning U95S Multipattern Tube Condenser Microphone, and will be available at the end of October.

The Soundelux ELUX 251 recreates the sonic beauty of the fabled Telefunken ELAM 251, one of the most sought after vintage mics ever built. Its strong, powerful bottom and airy, unabrasive top allows the ELUX 251 its response that extends w ell beyond the normal range of a studio microphone. The ELUX 251 construction features hand built, hand tuned and strictly tested European capsules, with time proven tube and transformer circuitry. All electronic components are point to point wired, with each being individually pre-screened for sonic quality. The unregulated power supply is true to the originally designed vintage model.

The bass in the ELUX simultaneously occurs with an open, airy top cud to provide a real vintage quality performance without the midrange overemphasis and buildup; stacked vocal tracks sound naturally dominant, without being overbearing. Although the primary use for the ELUX 251 will be for vocals, other instruments such as drums, acoustic guitars, percussion and pianos will benefit from the open top of this true.
