  • Audix Debuts VX-5 Hand Held Condenser Microphone

    By Guest |

Audix is proud to announce the release of the VX-5, a stylish and innovative hand-held vocal condenser microphone designed to handle a wide variety of live, studio and broadcast applications. With a smooth frequency response of 40 Hz - 16.5 kHz (plus or minus 3 dB), the VX-5 features a 14mm gold vapor diaphragm, a supercardioid polar pattern, a -10 dB pad and bass roll-off filter, a specially ported steel mesh grill screen, and the Audix trademark black satin finish. Operation requires phantom power of 9-52 volts.

Audix VP of Sales, Cliff Castle states, "The VX-5 was developed in response to a strong demand from our pro audio users for a high performance condenser vocal microphone that was rugged, easy to use, sonically superior and competitively priced. Over the past year, we have critically tested the VX-5 against other 'industry standard' microphones in a similar or higher price range. When comparing design features, sound quality, flexibility, resistance to plosives, off axis rejection, polar response, and ability to handle high levels of sound pressure - let's just say that the pro audio market is in for a pleasant surprise.

The VX-5 will handle sound pressure levels of 144 dB (in the pad and roll-off position) without distortion and will additionally provide over 20 dB of ambient noise rejection for feedback control on live stages. In addition to vocal applications, the VX-5 is ideally suited to capture acoustic instruments such as guitar, woodwinds, brass, percussion toys, and drum overheads. Available from authorized Audix dealers at a suggested retail price of $299, the VX-5 includes a mic stand adapter, carrying pouch, and one-year warranty.

The wireless version of the VX-5, which will be offered with the RAD360 wireless system, will be available by the beginning of 2007.
